(:adsense:) (:showright:) (:notitle:) !!Carolina Circle Mall David Gwynn also has a page with history of the [[Carolina Circle Mall History | Carolina Circle Mall ]]. Attach:carolinacirrink1.jpg | '''Ice Skating Rink - 1976''' Attach:carolinac2.jpg | '''Aerial View''' Carolina Circle Mall officially opened on Wednesday, August 4, 1976 in northeastern Greensboro, North Carolina. At this point, the mall featured a Belk, Ivey's (Now Dillard's), a Montgomery Ward, and an ice rink known as the "Ice Chalet". Attach:carolinacirmap1.jpg | '''Mall Map''' Mall manager Vann Massey sent me this layout map of the mall from 1981. In 1988, the mall was renovated and updated to my favorite version. It now featured lime green and pink colors, mirrored columns, new floor tiling, new emblem, and brighter lighting. The two biggest changes was a new food court and a carousel to replace the ice rink. Attach:carolinac1.jpg | '''Main Entrance''' The late '90s were not so great for the mall. Around 1996 or 1997, the carousel was permanently removed as well as Belk. The mall was put up for sale in 1999 and officially closed in early 2002 (Due to the departure of Montgomery Ward). Currently, a Wal-Mart Supercenter and other shops exist at the former mall location. Obviously, the mall was demolished in the summer of 2005. As for me, I adore Carolina Circle Mall. Being born in 1989, I obviously missed the ice rink era, but I was around for the majority of the carousel era. Believe me, it was great. I started going to the mall sometime around 1990 when I was only a baby. I would ride the carousel with my dad and even back then, I was a fan of the mall. My favorite era of the mall was 1994 and 1995. At that time, the mall still had about 95% of its luster and I was old enough (4-5 years old) to enjoy other aspects of the mall including of course the carousel. I was heartbroken when it was torn down in 2005. At the age of 15, I was still yearning for one last ride on the carousel and other stuff.
